Stockholm Bus Stop

This new design for bus shelters in Stockholm was developed as part of an invited competition in 2020. It is inspired by the slender structures of the early modernism built for the Stockholm exhibition in 1930. The design is reduced to its essentials with a thin roof and slim columns, creating a feeling of lightness.
The structure consists of three components: columns of round 48 mm hollow steel profiles, a thin 10 mm flat steel that spans the entire roof and tempered 12 mm glass sheets between the columns. All steel parts are standard off-the-shelf components to ensures cost-effective production. The ceiling, reflecting its surrounding, is made of molded aluminum elements screwed to the flat steel of the roof.
