Twin Room

A small-scale rebuilding of a 19th century apartment in Odenplan, Stockholm. The two children in the family had grown too old to share bedroom. The solution became a symmetrical division of the existing room into two spaces. A wooden structure was inserted with a wall, two new lofts for sleeping and built in storages and shelves.
An important condition was that the entire rebuilding had to be completely reversible and wouldn’t affect the existing 19th century details of the room, including a fireplace in the corner that was built in. All surfaces are plywood and a small hatch between the two new bedrooms lets the children talk to each other.
