They dreamed of a free-flowing plan where the rooms were all connected to each other and where the forest was always present. This was achieved through a play with two geometric forms, the triangle and the square, where spaces emerge in the relationship between the two. &nbsp; &nbsp; The ground floor facade is completely glazed providing unobstructed views of the surrounding nature and a low concrete wall base negotiates the uneven terrain. The upper floor with three bedrooms is more secluded with windows facing east. Design in Stockholm is a robust machine for fast-changing, experimental exhibitions. The interior is a tall symmetrical white room accessed by three doors, providing a neutral background for exhibitions and events. &nbsp; &nbsp; The primary structure built from prefabricated standard section steel is exposed externally. The roof is lifted from the walls allowing natural daylight to enter the space. In between the steel columns are sections of chain-link wire mesh acting as an additional informal exhibition surface. In this way, the backside of the gallery wall gains equal importance as the inside. &nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp; A ramp wraps around the gallery allowing visitors to view the exhibitions from multiple points in space; at a viewing platform in a large circular opening and at a balcony that stretches the entire length of the gallery. The deck run along the outside of the house and is covered by the large roof, creating an outdoor space protected from rain and sun. &nbsp; &nbsp; The house is situated in a sloping terrain and is placed on a plinth foundation. Large sliding doors open towards the wooden deck and the view of water, while higher ribbon windows run along the backside. A large window frames the view towards the south. &nbsp; &nbsp; A small hallway and a bathroom divide the interior into one main room and a master bedroom. The bath is organized in five volumes. The first one contains a restaurant and reception. The circle and the square are two separate sections for women and men with changing rooms, saunas, relax areas and pools protected from view. The fourth volume is a mixed area containing a larger sauna with a panoramic view over the bay and the Town Hall, and the fifth volume is a jumping tower. &nbsp; &nbsp; In the middle is the large main pool open for everyone. Bathers can move freely on bridges along the outside of the entire bathhouse, and each volume has a sun terrace on the roof with a magnificent view of Riddarfjärden. The original building is a traditional red painted Swedish cottage, and the extension was built in the same style. The client wanted to keep the exterior of the extension but completely redo the interior with a new kitchen, master bedroom, bathroom and guestroom. &nbsp; &nbsp; The existing attic was removed creating a spacious double ceiling height with roof lights in the kitchen, and a new floor and a staircase was inserted in the other part of the building with master bedroom and bathroom on ground floor and guest room on the upper floor. It is inspired by the slender structures of the early modernism built for the Stockholm exhibition in 1930. The design is reduced to its essentials with a thin roof and slim columns, creating a feeling of lightness.&nbsp; &nbsp; The structure consists of three components: columns of round 48 mm hollow steel profiles, a thin 10 mm flat steel that spans the entire roof and tempered 12 mm glass sheets between the columns. All steel parts are standard off-the-shelf components to ensures cost-effective production. It consists of six townhouses and six terraced houses organized as a modern sustainable garden city. The private outdoor areas are lifted into the buildings as a series of terraces and winter gardens, creating a dense and vertical residential block, giving more space for the public of Köping to enjoy the park and river. &nbsp; &nbsp; The footprint of each house is an 8x8 m square. The terraced houses have a built-in garage on ground level which can easily be converted into an additional living room or workshop if the family don’t own a car. The entire ground floor of the townhouses can be rented out as a separate apartment. The stair as an architectural element played an important role in the Baroque era. It changed position from a simple utilitarian structure to becoming a dominant and theatrical architectural object of its own. &nbsp; &nbsp; The interior of the pavilion is an intimate space lined with plywood that opens dramatically towards the sky. The double stair becomes a scenography elevating the process of moving up through space. The exterior of the pavilion reveals nothing of the interior. It is the negative shape of the stair and the timber wall structure that holds it. The existing apartment is extended with a new spacious kitchen on the upper floor. The stair is concealed in the wall of the bedroom and the existing kitchen on the lower floor becomes a small study. &nbsp; &nbsp; A large dormer window towards the courtyard provides a beautiful view over the roof tops and three additional skylights are fitted towards the street.
